If no functions illuminate and the “G” test light is flashing, then the housing is not properly grounded. Clean the mounting holes and check the wire ground to verify that it is free of rust, corrosion or paint.
Power Switch
If no test lights illuminate with a function on, check the trailer wires feeding the Smart Light™. If no power is present at the back of the trailer, verify that the towing vehicle is providing power to the trailer. If the tow vehicle is not feeding power back to the trailer, check vehicle fuses or see your vehicle dealer. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Select a question below to reveal the answer.
Q. How do I properly ground my Smart Light™?
Q. Why is the light partially functioning; only tail light works, or only left turn/right turn works?
Q. How do I trouble shoot trailer lights?
Q. I have checked all the wirings several times over, but why my lighting is still not working?
Verify that the ground light on the light housing body is not flashing. Make sure that all wires are connected from the Smart Light to the trailer for the ground test feature to function properly. If the ground light is flashing make sure the grounding points at each of the lights are clean and free of rust and paint. Also check the grounding point at the tongue of the trailer to verify it is clean and free of rust. Make sure the vehicle is grounded to the trailer good. You can test this by using a jumper cable and attaching one end to the trailer frame and the other end to the tow vehicle’s frame. If this corrects the issue, then the vehicle is not properly grounded to the trailer. Check the vehicle’s ground to the connector and verify it is free of rust and corrosion and the wire is not broken or damaged. If the tow vehicle is has a good ground, verify that the trailer’s ground to the connector is free of rust and corrosion and the wire is not broken or damaged. Check the vehicle’s tow fuses to make sure they are in place and good. For more help on this issue see “How to Use the Built-In Test Features”. Check the vehicle’s tow fuses to make sure they are in place and good.
